Calculate milk income and break-even

Use your own herd, yield, rate and monthly costs. Blank cost fields count as zero.

Your figures stay in this browser and are not sent to DairyTrack.

Milk production and sales

“10 animals” matches the common planning example. Change it to your actual herd.

Monthly feed costs

Enter the total paid for the whole herd during the same period—not a recommended ration.

Other monthly costs

Enter your milk production and selling rate to see the calculation.

10% less milk
10% lower milk rate
10% higher feed costs

Each card changes one item and keeps every other figure the same.

This is an estimate from the figures you entered, not an income promise, valuation, tax calculation or financial advice.

How it works

Your figures in, a transparent estimate out

The calculator multiplies animals currently giving milk by average daily litres and the number of days. It then applies your selling rate and subtracts the monthly costs you enter. It does not insert a milk price, yield or feed budget on your behalf.

Break-even milk rate is total entered cost divided by milk produced. Break-even daily yield shows the litres each milking animal would need at your entered selling rate to cover those same costs.

Build a useful estimate

Include the costs your farm actually pays

A result can look profitable when a real cost is missing. Use records from the same month or period for milk, wanda, fodder, labour and other expenses. Keep household withdrawals separate from farm operating costs so you can see both clearly.

ProductionOnly count animals currently giving milk, using their actual average litres.
FeedUse the whole herd's wanda, fodder, minerals and other feed cost for the period.
Operating costsInclude labour, veterinary, utilities, transport, rent or finance and other farm costs.

From estimate to records

A calculator is only as current as its inputs

DairyTrack records milk by animal along with feed and farm expenses. Those records make it easier to return to this calculation with measured figures instead of memory or a one-time guess.

Common questions

Using the income estimate

Does the calculator assume every animal gives milk?

No. Enter the total herd and the smaller number currently giving milk separately.

Can I use it for buffaloes or a mixed herd?

Yes. Use the combined average daily milk from the animals currently in milk and your actual costs.

Why are there no default prices or yields?

Rates, production and costs vary by farm and date. A made-up default would make the result look more certain than it is.

How is the starting currency selected?

The first visit uses your browser timezone and then its country or language when available. You can change the currency, and that choice is remembered on this device.

Does DairyTrack receive my financial figures?

No. The calculator runs on the current page and does not send these entries to DairyTrack.
